Putting My Patterned.....

paper to work. Yep, you read that correctly. I guess I could say that no stamps were harmed in the making of this card. I used only two stamps.....the letter "H" and the letter "I". Now maybe you could shed some light on this for me. Why is it that while I am sitting on my couch I think of ideas for cards, but let me get in my craft room and those thoughts are totally out the window. And before you suggest that I keep an idea journal, I do...........some times. But when the journal isn't "with" me, I ass...

HelloThere.....

This little card was very simple to make. I started with the Mini Blooms stamp set, stamping it along the side of the small panel using new leaf ink. Next up I used the coordinating dies to layer in some spring blooms. I used my cuttlebug swiss dot folder along the top portion of the white card stock as a back drop for my focal image, which I layered on to a piece of harvest gold card stock. I added gems and enamel dots along with harvest gold satin ribbon as my embellishments. I stamped the sent...

I Received So Many.....

pretty sympathy cards when Doug passed, but this one really caught my "creative" eye when I opened it. I immediately wanted to create my own version. I loved the soft colors with the bold embossed print at the top and the soft print at the bottom. For my creation I used the Cutting Garden set and I just had to pull out one of the Zing embossing powders recently released by Papertrey. Here's a close up of that gorgeous floral pattern on the card that I received. ...and here is a close up of my e...

Let's Take A Little......

trip to California. As you know, Whitney took me on a fun trip to California and I finally have the pictures edited. So I thought that instead of showing you all 4,247 photos (yes, I am once again exaggerating) in one post, I will periodically do a little post of various adventures that we had while we were there. And with that in mind, we'll start with our first day. Our flight left CVG at 9:00 am and we landed at LAX around 11:00 am. Gotta love that three hour time difference. HA! We collected our l...

A Little Something.....

from me to you. I am a very lucky girl to have such great co-workers and a great boss. I was able to spend the majority of Doug's last days with him at the hospital, with just allowing myself time to run home and take care of my girls before heading back to the hospital. Those days were very precious to me and I'll never be able to thank them enough for covering my duties that week. Shortly after the funeral, Whitney and I flew to California for a few days, so again they covered me at the office. So whil...

We Made It.....

back from our trip to Los Angeles. It was a wonderful trip, but I am still on "vacation mode". In other words, a bit lazy. After the past several weeks, I haven't felt very creative, but plan on getting in my craft room for a bit today, along with doing laundry and weeding a small flower bed. Hopefully I'll have something crafty to share soon. I also need to get busy with editing vacation photos, so I'll have a bit of that fun to share as well. So be patient with me and I'll have something new for you so...

We're Leavin' On A.....

jet plane. But we know when we'll be back again. One of my Christmas gifts from my sweet baby girl was a trip to California. She and I will be heading west Saturday morning. We'll be flying to LA and spending a few days basking in the sunshine and riding the waves. Okay, I made that second part up. The main reason for the trip is to "hopefully" get to see Ellen. Whitney knows how much I love watching Ellen. We applied for tickets back in February for the April 16th show. We didn't receive a respons...

Preparing For The Final...

goodbye. Doug left us Friday, just a little past noon. Joyce and I were with him when he took that last breath. He had a very rough Thursday and Friday morning, but finally went to sleep and then ever so peacefully, left us. I sat with both of my parents and my husband as they each took their last breaths, but some how it's different when it is your sibling. Maybe it is the realization that your family is fading away.....I don't know. Mom dad had three children, 9 years between each of us. I am the "...

Quiet.......

content discovered on Tuesday, April 02, 2013

Qui-et - adj: making little or no noise. Noun: absence of noise; silent; calm. Verb: become silent; calm. It's 1:50 am and I find myself surrounded by "quiet" as I sit next to my oldest brother, Doug's hospital bed as he nears his final days with us. The only sounds are the soft voices of nurse Jessica and nurse aide Cindy as they come and go, quietly, checking his vitals and trying to keep him comfortable. At the moment he is resting, only occasionally asking me for water, which is nothing more than a...

I Just Couldn't.....

resist making a quick card for this month's blog hop challenge over at Papertrey. Quick being the operative word. If you do papercrafting, be it cards or scrapbooking, you know that a big trend is using sequins. I made a little trip to my local craft store recently and while there I picked up a variety pack of the little beauties. So it was fun to see that Nichole pickedsequins to feature for the March blog hop. Do you remember what the "operative" word is? Yep, quick.....and here's the proof. ...
