Normal 0 false false false EN-GB X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Despite what you may be reading in your local newspaper, seeing on national television or hearing on the radio, very little has happened here in Kuwait, at least for now. The only significant event thus far took place on Thursday when, several hundre...
Normal 0 false false false EN-GB X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Okay, I forgot to read with Christopher yesterday. It happens, occasionally. But I did make up for it and here's how. Because we rarely leave home before 7 am during the week, I asked Christopher to sit on the couch and do some reading. We had about ten ...
Normal 0 false false false EN-GB X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Five days into the school year and I’m delighted with how well things are progressing. Christopher is definitely enjoying his new surroundings. Whenever I pick him up from school, he looks so happy—not that he wasn’t last year; it’s just different. His enti...
Normal 0 false false false EN-GB X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 I awoke to the sound of an alarm clock, this morning. That was at 5:45 a.m. My wife immediately jumps out of bed and heads to the shower, but not me. Oh no. I loiter around for a few more minutes, just long enough for my brain and legs to start communicati...
Normal 0 false false false EN-GB X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Having now fully recovered from our globe-trotting expedition, it’s now time to prepare for school. Last week I rec’d my first parent email for this year. Reminder emails, as I like to call them. And just like last year, this one focused on the most i...
Normal 0 false false false EN-GB X-NONE X-NONE With just two weeks left before Christopher returns to school, I’ve had plenty of time to sit around and reflect upon the previous year. During that rethink session, I’ve decided to implement a few changes for the coming year. First, Christopher will start learning how to make a...
Our trip back to Kuwait was quick. We left Orlando on Saturday, with an intermittent stop in NY for the evening (Hampton Inn JFK), before catching an early morning flight back across the pond. The flight from Orlando touched down just after 9 in the evening. By the time we found the shuttle bus, drove to the hotel and checked in, it was nearly 10:15 p.m. We climb into bed @ 11. Sometime before midnight someone checked in next to us. I guess the walls aren’t so thick at this particular Hampton I...
If you’ve come back to this blog expecting, to see pictures from a Disney park, sorry to disappoint you. There are none. But I do have loads of photos from LegoLand, Dinosaur World and Bok Tower Gardens to share. There are so many alternative attractions in and around Orlando, which are just as entertaining for families with young children as those popular Disney attractions, and all at a fraction of the cost. Christopher loves it, and so do we. We stumbled upon Dinosaur World, while driving to Tamp...
When we finally arrived in Orlando, it was 1:30am, Sunday morning, 26 hours after leaving Kuwait. I don’t think I’ve ever stayed awake for so long. Christopher decided to take a little snooze in Miami Our flight from Miami to Orlando with American Airlines was staffed by a geriatric flight crew. I sat in my seat, row 15,and watched the lone male flight attendant, stare straight at the cabin floor for 30 of the 36 minute flight. This guy was on the verge of falling asleep. Unbel...
Normal 0 false false false EN-GB X-NONE X-NONE Killing time, that’s what we’re doing. The expat mass exodus from Kuwait has long since taken place. We’re probably one of last hold outs. Nearly all of Christopher’s friends, and soon-to-be new classmates, have all made a mad rush to the airport and have flown off to more hospi...
