content discovered on Thursday, January 10, 2013 in zines, owt creative, video zine, matt lee, zine, vault, manchester, sam meech, owt

A quick update. I'm now teaching on graphics and occasionally fashion and interiors at manchester met while running OWT and studying to be a teacher. This has led to me neglecting my blog, and for that I apologise. Here is a little something I've recently done with OWT. The ‘Interlace Project’ was a zine created in the form of a live event. We asked for 15 second videos on the theme of ‘Interlace’, of which we received 105. Using various methods of projection we then relayed, manipulated, overlapped and ...

As a final process in the making of 'Reprocess' we invited people to come down and create their own zine. Here are some photos from the event and a little bit of video footage too. Are you allowed to sit a book drill on a bar? Who knows, but we did. Thanks to everyone who came down to the event and made it such a success.See more images from the event HERE

content discovered on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 in zines

We recently ran a 48 hour zine project with the Foundation students at Manchester School of Art. The brief was to redesign the alphabet through a filter that we assigned them. The aim of the project was to encourage them to work impulsively within strict a timeframe while introducing them to the immediacy of the zine aesthetic. The three filters were: Signage the Olympics, Architecture and Photomontage. Here are the results.

This is OWT issue #10 'Displacement'. It features interpretations by eighteen different Northwest creatives as well as the members of the OWT team. It comes in three different flavours with cover design by Barney Ibbotson. The zine contains several added extras that make each one individual, with us working into the zine and a screen-printed cover as well. If you'd like to purchase a copy, you can do so from HERE.My piece pictured below focused on the idea that our memories become altered/eroded by exter...

So i'm in a film...

So i'm in a film... talking about zines. I really should have posted this earlier as it has been going on for a little while, but I've fallen behind on my blog. I'm talking about OWT creative and general zine culture with my OWT pal Ben. If you love the sound of a monotone Middlesbrough accent and an uncomfortable welshman then this is the film for you. In all honesty though, Craig from Salford Zine Library put in a lot of effort to put it together and it's a really interesting watch. It runs all the way...
