Not much today.

Discovered on Thursday, May 17, 2012

My mom's dog Tinker, poor little funny looking thing. :-) We did not do a whole lot today. I worked, but while I was working, I developed one of those excruciating pounding headaches that make it hard to concentrate. I finally got done, but it was kind of rough. After I worked, I put a warm washcloth on my eyes and laid down for a while. That made the headache abate somewhat but it didn't go away completely. After my nap, my daughter and I went to the library briefly and then to my moms house, where I b... read more »

Maternity Leave

Discovered on Thursday, May 17, 2012

Hello all!I've been remiss on updating the blog lately, but I think I have a pretty good reason. :-)Last week, our family of three officially became a family of four, when Caleb Matthew was born very early Saturday morning. Born at 38 weeks gestation, our latest addition weighed in at 7 lbs. 2 oz. and measured 50 cm in length. Happy to say that Mommy and Bubba are both resting at home.As it is, I'll be taking the month off to recuperate and focus my energies on my two little ones. Watch out for posts on ... read more »

Braces Blow by Blow: Deciding to get Adult Braces

Discovered on Thursday, May 17, 2012 in adult braces, high speed braces, getting braces

I started "Tales of a Bridesmaid" blogentriesto document all of the joys and headaches of being a member of the wedding party. Well, to play off of that, I'm going to be documenting my journey into adult braces. I'm a sucker for alliteration, so I give you:Braces By by Blow! Hate it? Don't worry, it's only going to be 6 months. As its inaugural entry, these are the reasons why and how I've arrived at making this decision. Since childhood.... Is Natural Hair Considered Militant?

Discovered on Thursday, May 17, 2012

Just the other day, I bumped into an old friend of mine who has never seen my naturally textured hair. After looking at my hair, he asked ifit was my real hair. Obviously, I answered yes and I talked about my decision to wear my hair natural. I even told him about my blog. In a joking way, his reaction was “Oh, does that mean you’re militant now?” Of course, I gave a little chuckle and said no. I simply explained that it’s about healthy hair and not using chemicals. The conversation continued with a litt... read more »

Dawn's Many Paths

Discovered on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in day 226

In the file that I entitled, PATHS, I have about fifty photographs that I have taken of paths. Again and again, I am drawn to images that show the future, a direction in some unnamed direction, but certainly, ahead. Whether in nature, or manmade, these paths represent possibility, hope, forward motion. My heart does a little leap when I detect a path I might have missed -- a bike path, a foot path, a well-traveled lane that has its own history. My Paths tend to be straight on and forward or have a gentl... read more »

Before making it illegal to circumvent TPMs, shouldnt Canada make it mandatory for manufacturers to warn Canadians that the media and devices we buy use TPMs? Especially since most Canadians dont know what TPMs are? Canadians dont recognize TPMs. We think we are doing something wrong when we are prevented from copying digital photos we [...] read more »

Healthified Banana Bread

Discovered on Wednesday, May 16, 2012

I recently tried a new banana bread recipe. It has no oil or sugar- it is sweetened with applesauce and honey and made with whole wheat flour. I know, you may not think it sounds too appetizing... but it is delicious!! I like it just as much as the regularbanana bread- maybe a little better because I don't feel the guilt of eating all the sugar oil. So, hang on to those over-ripe spotted bananas and turn it into something tasty! 2 cups whole wheat flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 teaspoon salt ... read more »
