An incredible CPAC Day 2 for The American Maverick team! Great speeches by Santorum, Romney and Gingrich. Santorum had a great presence during his speech. Romney connected the dots with a very receptive conservative audience. Gingrich did arouse the crowd, yet he used much of his stump speech material. I will name two other speakers who definitely lit up the crowd. Spirited, straightforward conservatism by Andrew Breitbart and the NRA's Wayne LaPierre. Breitbart and LaPierre were spot on with the intensi... read more »

A young Winnie Mandela with her two daughters
This weekend marks the anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s release from Robben Island and there will be countless celebrations of Mr. Mandela and rightly so. But it never sat well with me, the way Winnie was trashed and disposed of by the Mandela camp. Njabul Ndebele’s novel-The Cry of Winnie Mandela- is worth the read because she attempts to present the political, cultural and psychological contexts in which Winnie Mandela evolved, regressed and reemerged in a... read more »

1) Have you ever thought why there's conflict between Shia and Sunni?2) Have you ever thought how can "brothers" hate each other so much?3) Have you ever thought about why they kill each other?4) While both sects are massacring each other, have you ever wondered how they can claim that Islam is the Religion of Peace???The origins of the Sunni-Shia conflict was always violent, and that appears to be giving way to another period of spreading conflict in the Middle East..That struggle is most violent and da... read more »

Yesterday I went out and did some serious hiking for a few hours. I decided to try something a little different with my photography. I used my shoes as a subject for a few of my pictures. Now situating the shoes while trying not to leave any footprints in the snow was quite a challenge. Especially considering the snow on the ground and the temperature, but the outcome was satisfactory, so it was worth the half hour of freezing feet! I really like the way one of them turned out, and after a little editing... read more »

At three years old, my son now has a pretty good understanding of what 'favorite' is. For instance, at the supermarket, he'd ask for his favorite cereal (Koko Krunch), his favorite chips (Lay's Sour Cream Onion), his favorite cookies (Presto Peanut Butter), and his favorite drink (Yakult). He also has a favorite shampoo, which he fondly calls 'yummy shampoo'. Yummy because of how it smells - invigorating, bursting, tangerine goodness. Yue couldn't get enough of how he smells like an orange after every ... read more »
