Major health issues have taken over my home since October 30th, but we're hanging in there and made sure we kept our family traditions up through the Christmas season. In many ways we have been very blessed and blessed by many people. I know we couldn't have ever done this alone. Surround yourself with good people, because they pull you through times such as these. I mean that.Through the ups and downs over these last couple... read more »

I can't believe how close Christmas is and how easily Thanksgiving is kind of put on the back shelf these days. It seems to me that this has only been happening for around the last 10 or so years. It's as if Thanksgiving is just a fancier Thursday dinner. I really do love Thanksgiving! I miss the love and excitement, via the media, for the Thanksgiving holiday. I love Christmas, too, don't get me wrong, but each holiday needs the build up of the day-do you catch my drift? We know Christmas is HUGE! ... read more »

Well, I feel like I just hit the mother lode!It gets so very cold here in Illinois and I never like to cut loose of money, especially on myself, but I spent $1.29 last night and I couldn't feel better about it. I was given a QVC gift card a couple of months ago and I just couldn't spend it foolishly. It was something I had to really think about. So I went on the QVC site and thought about new fun stuff for my kitchen, then I thought abou... read more »

It was way overdue that I needed glasses so a few weeks a go I was able to get a designer pair of glasses.Dolce Gabanna glasses! I now feel like a little redneck celebrity in these specs! Only around myown house, of course, and in front of anyone that encounters me in all of my designer "fabulous-ness"In my everyday life I am so frugal with my purchases and spending money, especially on myself, but I was able to get, not only one pair of glasses, but a second pair for free, because I have the gift o... read more »

1. Busy week? Yes, it was. 2. I didn't have to cook for four days this week. This NEVER happens so I guess I could kind of say I was on holiday. 3. We ateout on Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday Wednesday. Again, we very seldom eat out and I always cook. This is a BIG deal to me. I think I might be starting to get a bit spoiled. I love to cook. I do. I do, but going out for dinner was my mini vacation and I totally enjoyed myself. No prepping, no serving , no dishes. It was fabulous! 4. Charlie had his 52nd ... read more »
As the lilac trees have been blooming over this last week it stirs in me so much emotion. So I went in search of a blog post that I had posted a couple of so years ago.Click on the link below to read it if you'd like. What I learned from herShe was my world. She was our world. She was my mother-in-law. The studio that I work in, now, was her home and we lived in the big main house. When she got very ill we moved her in with us and took care of her until her last breath.
