is it really a necessary thing? I say NO. Fall is not my favorite season. It lays like a heavy blanket of sadness on me. By 6:00 the light of day is gone and the darkness settles in - far too early for me. The evenings seem to go on and on and on. But, there isn't anything I can do about it so let's move on to a card that I have for you. I tried my hand at Nichole's MIM technique of building a background from various stamps. I pulled out Iconic Images for my card and chose Pure Poppy, Summer Sunrise and ... read more »
think about those holiday cards and this week's challenge over at Perfect Sentiment's is a sketch challenge with a holiday sentiment. So, I spent part of my afternoon in my stamp room and decided for one of my cards, I would play along with the challenge. After getting a few cards stamped, I got busy and took some photos so that I would have some things to share this week. Here is the card that I designed for the challenge. Cute huh? Except for the fact that I forgot one of the elements of the ske... read more »
were used to make this little creation. The patterned paper is by Authentique's Blissful Collection. This was the first Authentique paper that I've purchased, but I can assure you that it won't be the last. They have some gorgeous papers. I have also decided that I will only purchase 6X6 or 8X8 paper packs. I love to have papers that work together. All three of the patterns on this card came from the Blissful Collection. For the focal image I pulled out my PTI SS: Dress Form die and layered it onto the S... read more »
one very happy Pam. Now let me tell you about my strategy when I make a trip to Archiver's. Yes, I have a strategy - don't you? When I walk in the door I immediately turn to my right and I begin my first tour around the store. I go through each and every aisle, taking in all the gorgeous papers, gems, pearls, tools, inks and all the other glorious items they have to offer. Now, I don't take a basket along on the first trip around and there is a reason for that. The reason you ask? Because it would be ... read more »
technique from PTI's Make It Monday. Monday's technique was Frosted Images and was taught by Lisa Johnson. If you haven't seen it, be sure to click on the link above and take a few minutes to watch the video. It's really a cool technique. Basically, you stamp your image with a die ink color then stamp over the top of it again with white or cream craft ink. Then you rub it to get the frosted look. For my card I stamped Botanical Silhouettes on Kraft card stock. I was pleased with the way it turned o... read more »
tell someone to "say when" as you were refilling their drink, scooping out some homemade peach ice creamor giving them one more helping of mac cheese? You did?! Well where the heck were you the other day when I made this little ditty?! Oh my stinkin' word! Do you think I could have slapped any more embellishments on there? Someone desperately needed to yell "WHEN"! It all started out so innocently. It was a quiet Saturday in Cincinnati and I ventured into my craft room to spend a bit of time. I tu... read more »
circles totally drove this design. As I rorganized my patterned papers, I found so many gorgeous papers that I had totally forgot about. That's the problem with keeping it in drawers, at least for me. A week or so ago, I pulled out some copics and colored some pretty blooms from PTI's Year of Flowers: Carnations set. The copic colors worked perfectly with the patterned paper. However, as I sit here typing, I wish that I had also colored some of the flowers on cream cardstock. Now let me say, the "white" ... read more »
more scraps. While I was working on a project that I saw while reading a post that Betsy Veldmanhad written, I used a few scraps to make this little card. Now don't hold me to it, but I'm thinking that the patterned paper is by My Minds Eye, but I could be very wrong. I die cut some yummy red leaves using PTI's Turning A New Leaf die and then stamped on them with Polka Dot Basics II. It mimicks the polka dots on the paper and of course I needed to add a touch of bling. The card base is Spring Rain ... read more »
myself, but I am mighty happy that the weekend is in sight. It's been a heck of a week at the office and there is still another day to go. On the way home from work Wednesday, for the life of me I couldn't figure out if it was Tuesday or Wednesday. I tried to figure it out by how many outfits I had worn this week. Then when I pulled onto my street, I saw that some of the neighbors had put their garbage cans out, so then I knew that it was Wednesday. So while I let my brain rest a bit this evening, I t... read more »
than fresh strawberries? I love strawberries in any form - strawberry pie, strawberry ice cream, strawberry milk shake, strawberry daiquiries....you get the idea. So while I was being "berry" creative (haha hoho hehe) this past weekend - I reached for my new Friendship Jar Summer Fillers and it was a given that I first had to fill my little pint jar with strawberries. First I'll show you the copics that I used to color my "berry" yummy strawberries. I am "berry" happy with the way they turned o... read more »
