(On the NFL Playoffs…) Has there been a better playoff game in the past 10 years than the thriller between the Saints and the 49ers? Wow, what a game. Alex Smith grew up Saturday. The former number one overall pick who has had something like seven different offensive coordinators in seven years, finally has a coach who believes in him and tailored the offense to fit his strengths. This is what happens when you play an offense that makes your QB better and surround him with weapons. Sudden thought…is ... read more »

(On the Cavs…) Anderson Varejao is the Cavs biggest asset. We know this. For two years now I have said the team should trade him and try to get a first rounder in return for him. However, after watching how he has played in the early part of the season, maybe I’m wrong. Maybe he is more important to this squad than I realized. Without Andy, there is no depth, there is no passion, there is no defensive intensity. The guy is the heart of the team and makes the players around him want to play harder. He i... read more »

(On the Browns…) On a number of occasions I have compared Browns QB Colt McCoy to Saints QB Drew Brees. I have done so based on a number of things. The most obvious is the fact that both of them are much shorter than the average QB. While they may be listed at 6’2”, both are actually closer to an even six-foot. What I point out in the McCoy/Brees comparison is the way Drew always has been able to control the pocket and find throwing lanes despite his size. His first few years in San Diego, he struggled... read more »

(On the Cavs…) Samardo Samuels needs to get his stuff together. Semih Erden is returning soon and he will lose his spot off of the bench. Until Erden returns however, Samuels is a key sub, because in case you haven’t noticed, Ryan Hollins is a seven-foot hole on offense and defense. Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson shot a combined 3-18 against the Raptors last night. The rooks obviously did not have their legs under them, playing the second game of a back to back. I’ll be interested to see how they b... read more »

(On the Browns…) I’ll start with this. IF the Colts trade Peyton Manning, they will not trade him to the Browns. IF Peyton Manning gets cut, he will not sign with the Browns. To sum this up, Peyton Manning is not coming to the Browns. Manning, if not back with the Colts, will likely go to a team who has a shot at winning the Super Bowl next season (On the Cavs…) Christian Eyenga was sent to Canton to join the D-League Canton Charge today. Good move by the Cavs. He’s not playing here, he needs to p... read more »

Looking Ahead: The Browns Biggest Needs for 2012

content discovered on Tuesday, January 03, 2012

As we close the door on the 2011 season for the Cleveland Browns, it gives us an opportunity to do what Clevelanders do best, look to next year. With that in mind, here is a look at the five biggest needs headed into the 2012 season for the Browns. Offensive Coordinator The most disappointing part of the 2011 season for the Browns was the offense, by far. With the new regime in town we have heard so much about the west coast offense and how they are going to be a pass first team, yet we haven’t seen ... read more »

Steelers Limp past Browns, 14-3

(This article was written in the closing seconds of Thursday nights Browns/Steelers game, while I was still highly upset with the outcome, so bear with me) (Photo courtesy of AP Photo/Keith Srakocic) Technorati Tags: Browns,Steelers,Colt McCoy,Greg Little,Ben Roethlisberger In a game that was there for the Browns to win, they did what they do best and found a way to lose. Trailing Pittsburgh 7-3 late in the game, with momentum on their side after a HUGE goal line stand led by Chris Gocong kept... read more »
