Breast awarenessMy husband and I went for ice cream last week and these beautiful tulips were in bloom beside our favorite Dairy Joy called "Libs". It was for breast cancer awareness. They were so beautiful I had to jump out and take a picture. Today, my sister, her husband and my mom headed to "The Garden Spot" and bought some gorgeous annuals. My sister, Connie and her husband Russ have put a lot of work into a garden this year and they also got some vegetable seedlings to plant. Check out the back end... read more »
Funky fold designToday is my husband, Mark's birthday! I wanted to use my cupcake punch since I don't feel I have used it much. It is a simple card using the funky fold design. I did emboss the icing on the cupcake with a cuttlebug folder and also embossed the sentiment Happy Birthday to you! I thought it would stand out more. It is hard to see but it has a shine to it. I found the sentiment for the inside on line which brought it altogether. Inside sentiment Mark and Eric enjoying a ride in a fast... read more »
This is a fun favor for Thanksgiving. I made this a while ago thinking it would be great for a favor at the Thanksgiving table. I am sorry that I can't remember where I saw this but let me know if anyone knows where this came from originally. I used 10 medium sized, embossed, oval nestabilities. I folded them in the center and then glued them at the center together. Then just added a stem with 1/4 of an inch brown cardstock, which I then rolled and fitted it in the middle with some punch bunch leaves and... read more »
I just received my Cheery Lynn Designs die this week and just in time for an anniversary card for my sister, Connie and her husband Russ. They have been married 6 years yesterday and I was happy to get a chance to use this cute new die! Love it! It works so well. Comes right out after running it through my Sizzix Big Kick machine. Love the little detail of the veins in the leaves. The paper is from Pattern Paper Ambrosia and Stampin up Tempting Turquoise. Layered with the SU/sizzix Top Note die and use a... read more »
My son is here from California to visit friends and to attend a wedding for a college soccer teammate so he asked me to make him a card for Adam's wedding. I thought a black and white theme would be appropriate to give it a more masculine feel. I have had this spellbinders tag with the nestabling to match for a while and have wanted to use it. This was the occasion to use it, a wedding!! I haven't used the MS lace border punch in a long while and this seemed perfect. The background in white and the backg... read more »
This is a lovely card that I cased from Sandy Mathis. It had a vintage feel to me and I hope I captured the same. Very simple but looks like you put a lot of effort and time into it. A lot of EF were used. The first one on the Top note die and then inked it with Tim Holtz distressed inks.I, then, used SU embosslits for the flowers and embossed again. I didn't have any vintage cream colored lace so I used SU twill tape (which I think maybe retired now, not sure). If I make this card again, I think I would... read more »
When I saw some of the quilted cards on SC, especially this card I wanted to make one too but use it as a background. The squares on the "quilt" are 1 inch squares. I have made one with the 1 3/8" punch which I may show you at a later date but I think the 1 inch is better because you have more squares. Basically, you just put the 1 inch squares on a cardstock and then cut out with your top note die. I just added the owl punch bat, which is so adorable, and the sentiment with some ribbon. I have made quit... read more »
Tis the season for Halloween cards! I have seen these bats and ghosts on SC last year and this year and I wanted to make a card with them. It is made with the owl punch. Love that owl punch! It is so versatile and so darn cute!!! The wings of the bat are the circle punches and the scallop oval nestabilities to make the "wing" part. The pumpkins are the large and small oval punches from SU and the pumpkin with the "Happy Halloween" sentiment is a sizzix die. I did emboss the 2 pumpkins on the left with cu... read more »
Unfortunately, I have had to make another sympathy card. My husband is a principle in an elementary school and there have been 2 teachers who have had loved ones pass away recently. This is the second emboss resist card that I have made. I used the Upsy Daisy stamp set from SU with purple embossing powder. It is hard to see but the daisies are a deep purple and then sponged with yo-yo yellow and night of navy. I added the "my sympathy" in Eggplant Envy and some ribbon. I like the way it came out. Sorry t... read more »
I haven't used my embossing tool in a long time and I saw this card by M Zindorf. Love her technique! Although, instead of brayering I sponged. Sponging for me is a little easier than brayering. I will have to keep practicing. I embossed the stamp from Just Believe first and then sponged the colors. I didn't like the way the Basic Black from SU came out (kind of a purplish color) so I used black soot from Tim Holtz's distressed inks. It was fun and think I will do more of this technique. I should have ta... read more »
