As I may have mentioned, the Urbanworld Film Festival is my first-ever film festival of this size and scope, and it's been a memorable experience. I had thought it would be comparable to covering a comic book convention, as I've done plenty of in the past, but even for a fest as relatively small as this one, it's quite different - and I don't just mean the lack of fans dressed as Klingons. This is the fifteenth year of Urbanworld, and over that time they've attracted an impressive variety of stars as wel... read more »
The end of what seems like a long week has finally come to an end. The chant started on Tuesday morning, "Is it Friday yet?" But we made it through a rigorous week of work, school and progress reports, and it's finally Friday evening, yay!And a great way to end the work week. We met some friends at one of our favorite Thai restaurants, Surin 280 for dinner.Waiting outside while our table for nine was being set: Bilal's usual goofy face And a sweet one with big sister: I didn't take many pics during d... read more »
Higher Ground seen @ Kew Gardens Cinemas, Kew Gardens, Queens, NY 9.13.11 Last month I talked about how Andrea was spending this summer going on a European cross-country hike. I haven't mentioned why. Hers is no ordinary hike. It's a popular trek called the Camino de Santiago, which is a network of trails that traverse through Portugal, Spain and France. It's also a Christian pilgrimage that has existed for over a millennium. The goal is to reach a Spanish cathedral that allegedly is the final restin... read more »
OMG I am like so awesome! LOL. Eid Mubarak to my Muslim brothers and sisters all over the world! May Allah continue to bless us, our families, loved ones etc and make us better Muslims InshaAllah. When I saw some of the quilted cards on SC, especially this card I wanted to make one too but use it as a background. The squares on the "quilt" are 1 inch squares. I have made one with the 1 3/8" punch which I may show you at a later date but I think the 1 inch is better because you have more squares. Basically, you just put the 1 inch squares on a cardstock and then cut out with your top note die. I just added the owl punch bat, which is so adorable, and the sentiment with some ribbon. I have made quit... read more »

I'm just here busy experimenting on what to do with my blogs. I want to transfer from Blogger to Wordpress for the longest period of time after I got my own domain for Story Book Mom. But unfortunately I'm still clueless on where and how to begin:( Every time I do blog hopping, I turned green with envy when I saw that other blogs are under Wordpress. Why? Well, it's because I read lots of recommendations that if I want to monetize my blogs then I should get Wordpress. Perhaps if I could bump on to some... read more »

Another blessed month of Ramadan is drawing to a close. It has been a good month of fasting and prayer, visits to the mosque for Iftaar and dinner. The new moon has been sighted in Saudi Arabia, so our mosque has announced that tomorrow will be the first day of Shawal, or Eid-al-Fitr.Last night we went for dinner and our Chaand Raat celebration. Safa took her friend Anna with her, and they both got a chance to have henna applied on their hands. It's a very popular Eid tradition, and the girls love it. It... read more »
