It looks as though this time around I picked a difficult object for Friday Photo Fun, since no one got it until yesterday afternoon.Erik, of American in Spain, finally guessed that it was a madroño fruit. In English, the plant this fruit grows on is called a strawberry tree, although the fruits are not strawberries, and while they are edible, they are nowhere near as nice as real strawberries. The bush itself isn't all that special, but when it's full of red berries, it is pretty spectacular. This is ... read more »
Pure Love. This is precisely the kind of love that these moms have showered on their families and to those who are in need. Okay, ready for some photo fun?I'll get right to it. Here's today's photo: You know how this goes. Try to guess what this is, and leave your answer in the comments. The first person to get it right, gets their blog linked to my big red button. And if you win but you don't have a blog, I'll link to the page of your choice (I reserve the right not to link to anything I find objectionable). So, what are you waiting for? Go on. Guess. You know you want to.And when you're done with that, why don't you come ... read more »
I am so, so excited that summer is almost here. Even though our winter here in the Bluegrass was fairly mild, I'm still ready for warm weather. This week, we took our new kayaks out for a test run. It was my first time in a kayak. We decided to bypass the busy areas of the lake and head out to a more remote location. We thought it wouldn't be that busy. I guess everyone had the same idea, because the place was packed. Campers and tents were in any and every spot they could find. Some were even camped out... read more »
There is so much for new authors, old writers and even readers at theWorld Literary Cafeyou can spend days on the site. Since it's not a brick and mortar Cafe you'll need to bring your own coffee and donuts. You'll need a snack to keep your tummy full while you explore the offerings of WLC authors, take advantage of their author resources (I'm going to check out the Beta Reader section in detail for my book) and find new ways to connect with other readers and writers. I am looking forward to May 22nd, wh... read more »

All children go through stages of social development. An infant or very young child will play alone happily. If another child wanders onto the scene, he or she may be physically attacked or pushed out of the way. Next, the child is able to play with another child, gradually learning to share and take turns. Eventually, the group grows larger, to three or four children. By the time a child enters kindergarten, he or she is usually able to join in and enjoy group experiences.© Photographer: Alvera | Agency... read more »

I survived Catgirl's party (and so did the house), and I'm back to announce the winner of this week's Photo Fun contest. Once again it's Erik of American in Spain, who claims to be my biggest fan. I don't know if he's my biggest fan or not, but he's certainly one of the biggest Photo Fun winners. And this week, he guessed that my photo subject was a fan, or an "abanico", as it's called in Spanish.I used Ultraviolet's fan for the photo, mostly because she always leaves it lying around, and when I saw it t... read more »
