More Than Forty Hours A Week

Discovered on Sunday, September 19, 2010

Photo Credit:Sam MugrabyOne of the things you learn when you are running your own home-based business is that you usually work way more than forty hours a week. Working from home, wearing all the hats of your company entail many hours. Yet it is more satisfying because it is your's. Working for someone else is never what we think it will be. I always remember how you just can't wait to get that job! You do everything you can to win it and you talk about it all the time. When you get that job........... w... read more »

In the Mood for Love

Discovered on Monday, September 13, 2010

In the Mood for Lovefirst seen @ Angelika Film Center, New York, NY2000I've been to lots of other art-house theaters in New York and beyond, but the Angelika Film Center is where I got an education on independent film, particularly during the mid-to-late 90s. I first heard about the place through an article in the paper about it. I remember thinking at the time how novel it seemed that a movie theater would also double as an upscale cafe (even though I rarely partake of it). I was working in video retail... read more »

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Backsecond seen @ AMC Loews 84th Street 69.15.01I was on vacation on September 11. I hadn't left town yet. I was working in a video store at the time, and I had taken that week off in order to attend a comic book convention in Maryland. I was planning to leave on Friday and spend the weekend there. I was looking forward to the trip, as I have a lot of cartoonist friends and many of them would be at the show.It had been almost a year since I had gotten my desktop computer and the... read more »

No news from Gov't but things are happening.

Discovered on Tuesday, August 31, 2010

On Sunday, I tweeted this linkfrom the US Unemployed Blogsite, "No News But Speculation-So Why Say Anything." The gist of the post stated there is nothing new with no legislation scheduled; so if you can't say anything good.... I cannot dispute the fact about legislation nor the prayers for full employment by Labor Day; I agree 100%. None the less the editor did not address the positive things that happened in August. Maybe there is something to hope for. Before I continue I must offer this disclaimer: Fo... read more »

Vote or stay home?

Discovered on Monday, August 23, 2010

Last week I received an email from UCubed, an unemployed advocacy group. Along with other groups, they do a great job supporting and organizing to the unemployed. If you have not yet joined (free), please do. The email presented a challenge for me, one that I have not resolved. The email was about an Internet ad that will appear after Labor Day but more importantly the email asked for my personal commitment to vote this November. I received a similar request from Organizing for America. Normally I feel no... read more »

What We Owe Apple

It looks like Israelis will have to wait a little longer for their newest i-devices. The iPhone 4 and the iPad, the latest stars in the i-world, are not set to land here anytime soon, if news reports and official spokespeople are to be believed. LG, one of the main companies that makes the displays [...] read more »

(and hey, if you get the job, let's not forget your friends at c0dehex, huh? ) On a "less-than-altruistic" note, If I qualified, I wouldn't post this, but I'd be too busy applying.TOTAL IMMERSION is HIRINGWe are currently looking for Los Angeles-based Contractor engineers who are proficient in C++, Java, or Lua scripting to learn additional skills in our proprietary software platform... read more »

All in the Family

With so many people out there in possession of an Apple-made device – iPhones of various generations, and now iPads – it would behoove us to examine just what it is that makes Apple tick. Millions of people have iPhones, and tens of millions want them. Why? In a recent U.S. poll I read, no [...] read more »
