Fullmoon

content discovered on Tuesday, September 02, 2014

Earlier in the month, the full moon was extra luminous because of its proximity to the earth, a "supermoon." At the shore, all full moons are amazing, as they rise over the horizon, especially if the timing has it rising after dark. The reflections on the water are brilliant and the cool bluish light bounces around effectively lighting the entire beach. Full Moon Fishing TripI had beenwanting to try a moonlight painting, but coulda moonscapeactually be done en plein air? I suppose, but before Itried... read more »

Children of Lir Sculpture - Ballycastle

content discovered on Friday, August 15, 2014

Overlooking the sea front in the town of Ballycastle on the North Antrim coast is this modern piece of sculpture depicting The Children of Lir. From an old Irish legend. Bodb Derg was elected king of the Tuatha Dé Danann, much to the annoyance of Lir. In order to appease Lir, Bodb gave one of his daughters, Aoibh, to him in marriage. Aoibh bore Lir four children: one girl, Fionnuala, and three sons, Aodh and twins, Fiachra and Conn. Aoibh died, and her children missed her terribly. Wanting to keep Li... read more »

Classes start in eleven days.ELEVEN DAYS.This mean the time for painting is coming to a close, there just won't be time (plus we'll have to deal with harvesting and preserving the garden!). Guess this means summer is coming to a close. <sad face>{Meanwhile, check out the new website and domain for paintings at: www.graphicallyfrank.com}The anticipation and anxiety have been churning up madness, and we've been doing the best balancing act possible. It feels like this brain is being crushed by the skull, a... read more »

Lucky Four Leaf Clover

content discovered on Saturday, August 09, 2014

Who doesn't like afour leaf clover and what it stands for?The last time Imay havehad a real one in my hand was probably as a grade school child. That was an age whenthere actually wastime to sit around in a grassyspot and just comb through the softclover - no place to be and no concerns about efficient use of time. I painted a four leaf clover on a penny earlier this year and it has since sold up at the South Street Gallery in Hingham. I painted this four leaf (especially lucky)clover image on a new mail... read more »

ABSTRACT PAINTING "DREAMING COW"

content discovered on Monday, August 04, 2014

This beautiful "Dreaming Cow" was created a while ago. The main idea to paint this gorgeous animal came to me after a chat with my relatives, who told an extraodinary story from their farm. They had a naughty cow, which used to put her leg into nearly full bucket of milk during milking by hands.I absolutely adore these animals. They always seem so slow, relaxed and almost majestic. Their eyes are one of the most beautiful features. Soft, slightly sad look brings traquility and peace. Any memories from yo... read more »

POP ART PAINTING "HAPPY TIGER"

content discovered on Saturday, August 02, 2014

This painting was my second attempt in pop art. I found this style extremely easy and fun. This image was painted with acrylic on 50x50 cm canvas.Firstly I marked guidlines with pencil. Then started working on eyes. Warm colous (reds, oranges, yallow) used to reflect highlights, cold (greens, blues) colours for shadows and downlights. After area was painted in different colours, details were enhanced with black lines. It is a golden rule to make details stand out to use contrasting colours. Black- whi... read more »

My heavenly whales and other...

До цього ... read more »
