Just a few nights ago, I had the pleasure of being out after work to grab a quick drink with a good friend, Tasha. It was a really impromptu thing so we were both less than polished -- and ended up at one of the trendiest spots in the city, filled with gorgeous men and very attractive pro-athletes. In short, a dream scenario for most women... Except for the fact that we weren't quite prepared for the scene. However, the story here isn't about either one of us. Instead, it was about a woman seated two t... read more »
Every time we step into the dating ring, we're taking a chance with our hearts. And, whether they turn out to be a great match, the loves of our lives, jerks or just good friends, we owe it to ourselves to find out which of any of these they can be. But, if you've endured some of the icky sides of dating, you'll know that there's no way to be certain of someone's intentions. And, as I've found myself saying all too recently, it's your current state that impacts what and who you attract. In any event,... read more »
We all have ways of dealing with our emotions. Some make jokes when they're nervous, some people get quiet when they're angry and others blush when they're embarrassed. But, when you're into someone, what do you do? Do you wear your heart on your sleeve? Or do you clam up and hide behind the rules you're "supposed" to follow in dating so as not to appear weak? Well, honestly, I'd say that I'm the queen of the latter -- keep a little distance and follow a lot of "rules"-- mostly of my own creation. Se... read more »
So a little while ago, I confessed to having a crush on a guy who I'll call Nicholas. I've known the guy for a little while, and now that he was single (and it's a new year), I decided to toss my hat into the ring and take my chances. If he dug me, cool. If not... Well, I was hoping like a nervous wreck. Anyway, I'd meant to ask him out when I saw him in person. But because it was a loud, crazy night, there was no such luck. So, I sent him a quick e-mail. Nothing elaborate -- just mentioned I wanted t... read more »
Just this evening, I came across one story about a woman who gave up her search for love this year, after her one-year aggressive online campaign failed. Apparently, through this very thorough site, she posted weekly videos, kept a daily blog, and even maintained weekly goals, not to mention connected with supporters through various social media channels. In turn, the site garnered press on some A-list media outlets and landed her tons of dates -- but no man of her dreams. Now, she's taking a little sabb... read more »
It takes a lot of practice to just move on from someone when the relationship is over. But, admittedly, since I've become something of a serial dater I haven't had too much trouble in doing so, adopting the "plenty-of-fish-in-the-sea" attitude to dating. But to keep it real -- I have a thing for revisiting my past every once in a while. Essentially, I allow myself to indulge in "What If" fantasies about men I dated that somehow seem to move on and be blissfully happy with the woman that came right after m... read more »
Today, I was going to write a post about an observation I had in my butterfly garden. After I took some pictures, I scribbled some notes on a sticky pad. Just as I was going to sit and write this evening, my puppy, Maya, had grabbed it from my desk. She chewed it up and now [...] read more »
