Oh Happy Day

content discovered on Saturday, October 13, 2012

Today, like most days, hasn't been as productive as I would have liked. However, I am so happy because my strawberry plants came in the mail today. It rained all morning, so the ground was easy to break up we put them all in the ground. We chose a location that has enough sun, but used to be a flower bed, so that we weren't disturbing the lawn. Hopefully, by doing that, the owner will leave the plants here after we move and the next renters will get to enjoy them. The kids are so excited about growing s... read more »

content discovered on Friday, October 12, 2012

I thought I'd give a status report on our efforts to organize, save money, upcycle be more eco-friendly.We haven't been able to cut money very much further, since I was already operating on a shoestring budget. However, I made a happy find with Inbox Dollars. For the last week I've been accumulating earnings. I haven't yet gotten a check from them, but I've read great reviews about them online. Granted, it won't make me a millionaire, but every little bit helps. Plus, I like that they have both manufact... read more »

Green Running 101: Shoot that Cup! Tetra Pak RF...

content discovered on Friday, October 12, 2012

Bad publicity is bad publicity. Running events have their own share of paparazzi, some of them we love because they take photos of us while we are in action, photos we can upload on our social networks and be proud of. But some paparazzi can be critical and we have seen photos of hydration stations with no runners or marshals but with a lot of used cups on the road. These photos have even made it to the international news. The New York Marathon has it's own share of trash problems too.But this doesn't... read more »

ALTERED BOOK: JOURNAL MAKING

content discovered on Wednesday, October 10, 2012

For the MOTHER AND DAUGHTER activity of Rosevale School here in Cagayan de Oro City, GOODIE BOX CRAFTS conducted an ALTERED BOOK: JOURNAL MAKING activity and just added more spice to the afternoon's theme of simply enjoying each other's company while expressing their love and care for each other. The activity helped these teenagers as well as moms to express themselves through art and loved the idea of altering hardbound books to become journals. So many lessons to learn especially with Mrs. Thelma Mend... read more »

The Sticky Stuff in our Lives

content discovered on Saturday, August 25, 2012

Stuff is sticky. I don't thinkI'mhoarder but I've certainly been known to collect things. Now, I'm in the process of downsizing and simplifying.I've assigned sentimental value to my collections. This, I received for my 20th birthday; This, I bought while visiting Texas, This, oh my goodness, I can't get rid of this - this was found on the trail while hiking on a break during a bike ride. The memories are there every time I look at an item. What I've found over the past few months is that the memories are ... read more »

Keeping it Simple

content discovered on Saturday, August 04, 2012

Earlier this year DH and I decided it was time for us to put down some roots and leave the highways to someone else. We've sold all our toys, had a beautiful home built, and now in the process of moving. In fact, we've been "moving in" for about a month now and still have two storage units of stuff and need to figure out where we are going to put everything.Originally, about 10 years ago, we put our belongings in storage until we figured out where we wanted to live. We kept out the necessities and moved ... read more »

AHA! Use for Bobby Pins

content discovered on Thursday, July 12, 2012

Aren't these the prettiest bobby pins? My mother gave them to me. She has the best taste in clothing and always has the coolest accessories. As much as I appreciate the thought and gift, I don't wear bobby pins or barrettes that often. I couldn't bring myself to get rid of them either. Out of necessity comes AHA! uses.I'd like to think myself a genius but it was actually my sweet husband who was in need of a paperclip and all I had within a few feet of me were these bobby pins. That's where the idea of u... read more »
