According to Survival International, we may not be. Now, Survival International has a campaign to promote, but their message got me thinking. How have our motivations changed over the past half a millennium? What makes us different today than the Continue reading read more »
Quite simply, I believe there is a Creator because humans are capable of creating. We can create because we were made in the image of the Creator. Nothing just happened no more than a painting paints itself, a television show produces itself, a car assembles itself, or in this case, a blog types itself. I [...] read more »
For at least 200 years, Americans have had a national day of prayer. Ironically, this “day of prayer” tradition seems to have been started by a man who is known as a bullwark of the seperation of church and state. Continue reading read more »
In 1812, Martha Brotherton supposedly wrote the first vegetarian cookbook, or at least the first in Britain. It was called A New System of Vegetable Cookery. Her husband, Joseph Brotherton (1783-1857), chaired the meeting that founded the Vegetarian Society of Continue reading read more »
Hearing Mel Gibson's latest rant prompted me to go back and watch “The Passion of the Christ” again. Considering all the public issues Mel has had over the past few years, I was able to watch the film in a new light. I’m not sure why I didn’t notice it before, but there were several things that suggest it’s historically inaccurate: The sub-plot of Jesus and the apostles traveling behind enemy lines killing Nazis. The Apostles’ Creed is: "There’s only one rule about being an apostle. Nobody talks about b... read more »
Why am I an Atheist? Well, that's a difficult question to answer. It's almost as hard as trying to convince your parents that you still Christian even though you haven't been to church in months along with Easter. Nah, I'm kidding, they know my faith is shaky. I live right next to a Catholic Church and each time they come to visit me they say, "Have you been going to church?"And I'll be like, "No, not yet."They reply, "You should. You should go and maybe you'll meet a nice [Christian] girl, too."So, I sa... read more »
February 19th, 1812, a man named Admoniahs Judson sailed from Salem harbour in Massachusetts to India, and eventually to Burma. This trip was once called the most important event of the nineteenth century. I wouldnt be surprised if you never Continue reading read more »
