Art Feature//Art in Hidden Places

content discovered on Friday, January 13, 2012

In a city as renowned for its people as its culture there's an inevitability that therewill be many forms of creativity thrown into the melting pot. Many millions ofpeople flock to Liverpool for its unique collection of galleries, arts venues, constant roll of festivals and cultural events. Of course, that is allexcellent news but beneath the silky veil of high end galleries and wine soakedopen parties there are art forms rarely seen in galleries this side of thecountry. One such form is visible clearly i... read more »

Recently, in search of a change of scene, I went to Manchester for the weekend. Whilst there, I had a great time and even took some images too! Not unusual, perhaps, but familiarity with a place makes it a lot easier to shoot in my opinion. Have a look at some shots from the trip below: Street Art hasn't been known to attack people but... Only discounted? The cat suit alone cost an arm and a leg in getting it on! A poster I discovered on the streets. Nexus Art Cafe's toilet graf' is the best... read more »

On a sunny day when everything seemed to be going well, and against all odds actually was going well, I found myself walking around the canvas that is the back streets of Liverpool. Where I was on my way to, I don't recall, even though it was but a few days ago, but after not taking so many street art pictures recently as nothing new or particularly inspiring was appearing, lots appeared - as street art tends to! - over night! So, my camera got itself out of my bag, opened it's lens and let loose with th... read more »

Review: London Tonight (Vision Films DVD, 2010)

content discovered on Wednesday, January 26, 2011

Review: London Tonight - Vision Films UK DVD:Down here in t'North we tend to see London as a scary melange of pissed off commuters and searing traffic jams. And whilst both are indeed present in the capital, they don't necessarily reflect the whole picture. Neither do people and transport always go hand in hand in the expected fashion. Whilst it may be socially acceptable to ride public transportation to work or elsewhere, some people consider it a canvas to be filled, however fleetingly the illegality o... read more »

Concrete jungle

content discovered on Monday, May 17, 2010

My awesome wife purchased this wickedly good sketch book called WALLS Notebook last year. Its got 160 pages of urban walls which you can use as a blank slate. They provide inspiration as well as an interesting backdrop for notes, drawings, or scribbles. You'll be one step closer to being the graffiti artist you've always wanted to be...minus the (doodle in the bum) jail time. If you would like your own you can pick it up at Borders for about 20 bucks. This is only my second drawing in mine so far I am sc... read more »
