Today, celebrating her 60 years on the throne, the British monarch, Elizabeth Windsor, hosted an event at Windsor Castle attended by several unsavoury characters, including the Kings of Swaziland, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. Although the Bahrain tyrant, Hamid al-Khalifa, missed a later banquet at Buckingham Palace, the Queen's appetite for his frequent company seems undiminished in spite of his brutal suppression (much aided by his Saudi neighbours) of democracy protesters last year. Scores of people were ... read more »

Yet another update on the right-wing populist and often ignorantly uninformed slaughter of employment law and protection of employees in Britain. So yesterday we were treated to the spectacle of Mrs Windsor, who has never attended a job interview in her life but who has a pretty mean track record when it comes to maltreatment of her staff in the low wage Royal Household, informing us how her Government intends to create more flexibility for employers. This will give them even more opportunities to rip o... read more »

The Government web site proclaims "To mark 60 years of the Queen's reign the Diamond Jubilee will take place in 2012. The celebrations will centre around an extended weekend in 2012 on 2, 3, 4 and 5 June. Colourful, great packaging and quintessentially British .... My ... read more »
Delicate subject, indeed butinevitablefor a woman and her circle of friends, family and much more. These days most women refuse to keep their mouth shut and hide behind society's taboos. "Bravo!" to all of them. I praise every woman for her bravery and for leaving the old fashion puritanism far behind her. I've been going through some rough patches lately, feeling blue and...(gasp)...hormonal. I'm not ashamed to admit it, my entire life is now under myhormones' control, making my mood go up and down i... read more »
Of all the European countries with a Queen, arguably none loves their monarch as much as the Dutch do. Celebrating the Queen's birthday is a nationwide holiday in the Netherlands called Queen's Day. And in true Dutch spirit, the locals go Continue reading read more »
I keep reading these days about the rate of difficult pregnancies getting higher, and the more I read the more I understand I was truly lucky and blessed with such an easy pregnancy. At that time it looked like a burden and I could hardly wait for it to end, being convinced I have one of the hardest pregnancies ever. How selfish I was! Thinking back to those days I realize nothing about my pregnancy was hard, not even the last months, when I was looking and feeling like an enormous whale, had back and ... read more »
